About the event

All supplies will be provided and no previous experience or skill is required.

Drum rims are 16" yellow cedar (sacred wood known healing, purification, and spiritual protection)

Drum hides are buffalo unless you request otherwise. (buffalo symbolizes honor, abundance, generosity, and strength)

The supplies are ethically sourced from a native elder with supplies costing $250-300, including paints, stones, beads, dyes, and other items for decoration. Participants are encouraged to include a feather or other items of meaning whether from their vision quest or another time in their life. For more information please see the itinerary.

The cost is a sliding scale from $450 (supported), $550 (sustained), and $650 (supporting). Trade is negotiable as well beyond a minimum $250 to cover supplies.

Beginning on Saturday from 10-5:00 we will open circle and ceremony with sage, meditation, and intention, dropping deep to select the hide that calls to us and write or draw our prayers and intentions around the inside rim of our drum. We will then create our drums, weaving hide and song together in a ritual act to connect our heart to the heart of the earth

The following Sunday from 1-5:00 we will center around an altar of our creation as we begin to vision in collaboration with our ancestors, guides, and the mountain to initiate our vision quest in a ceremony held on and with the land. After spending 3 hours alone in your vigil on the land, we will take the drums home to dry in preparation for the following week, allowing time for us to dream our vision on ward and sit with our "skin."

Returning the following Saturday from 10-5:00 we will move into the creation of the vision-inspired design of our drum in the morning, painting and decorating the visions in the afternoon. On Sunday from 1-5 we will activate and initiate our drums, creating a mallet and returning to the land that guided us to give back in the form of drumming, ceremony, and song.  Our workshop will conclude with a sharing and healing circle and ceremony to send us out to collaborate in the healing of the world.
